Our Journey
The Southpawz is a Hampton Bays-based alternative rock band formed in 2020 by Sherman Kearns (vocals, guitar) and his 16-year-old sons, Nathan (bass, vocals) and Cristian (drums, vocals).
Two of the members play left-handed, inspiring the name The Southpawz. What began as a pandemic basement jam session became a full-blown musical journey. The band originally performed as The Southpawz Trio, but with the increasing presence of guest vocalist Charlotte Summar, the name was shortened to reflect their evolving identity.
Together, they play across genres with a shared love for ‘90s rock and live performance. Their side project Endless Summar, featuring Charlotte, Nathan, and Cristian, highlights the next generation of local talent.
The family is supported by Denizzie Kearns, Sherman’s wife and the twins’ mom, who manages bookings and logistics while teaching high school and running her own yoga business.
